Welcome to the Atlanta Model Yacht Club!

Since the late 70′s the Atlanta Model Yacht Club has been racing model sailboats locally. Our club is one of over a hundred from all across the U.S that is sanctioned by the American Model Yachting association. Every year we sponsor a regatta, which is posted on the AMYA Regatta Schedule inviting other R/C sailors from other areas to join in.

The class of boats our club sails on a regular basis is the East Coast 12. By “Class” is meant that every boat meets the same measurement specifications as the other boats in the class so as to ensure equal performance and racing competition. It is our hope that you will join us in the hobby and sport of R/C sailing and that you will eventually own a boat of the same class.

Our club meets to sail, season and weather permitting, on Saturdays, almost year round. We try to schedule in about 6-10 races and finish up for the day by around 4pm. The rules, the layout of the course marks and the procedure we use when racing are identical to those used by sailors of full-scale sailboats.

The locations of our sailing sites are Martin’s Landing Lake, in Roswell or Murphy Candler Park in Dunwoody and Lake Allatoona in Acworth. You are invited to come visit us. We look forward to handing you a transmitter and showing you what fun it is to sail by remote control.
